King Charles has offered royal accommodations for Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their children amid news that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's family plans to visit the U.K. together for the first time in four years... Next month marks the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027, an adaptive sporting competition for service personnel and veterans, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have previously attended similar countdown events together. The King Charles, 77, has offered his younger son and his family accommodation on a royal estate. However, there is no response to the offer so far.On previous occasions, the monarch has offered Harry accommodation at Buckingham Palace, which he has declined. PEOPLE has reached out to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for comment. Even if Prince Harry and his family stay at a royal residence, there would be no additional security provisions, which are decided by the Home Office. After the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from their royal roles in 2020, they lost their tax-funded police protection — a matter that Harry has fought in court to reinstate, citing safety concerns in his home country. No plans for a reunion between Prince Harry and King Charles during the potential U.K. visit have been confirmed, but the pair have met before during such trips. The father and son last reunited on September 10, 2025, at the King's London residence, while Harry was in the U.K. for the Wellchild Awards and Invictus Games events. They met for a private, 55-minute conversation, marking their first in-person meeting in 19 months. Prince Harry has returned to the U.K. on several occasions since stepping back from his royal role, but Meghan and their children have not been there since 2022. The Duke of Sussex has stressed he doesn't feel safe bringing his family to the U.K. In a statement to the High Court in London, Prince Harry said that he needed security for his two children "to feel at home" in his native country. "The U.K. is my home. The U.K. is central to the heritage of my children and a place I want them to feel at home as much as where they live at the moment in the United States," Harry said. "That cannot happen if there is no possibility to keep them safe when they are on U.K. soil." "I can't put my wife in danger like that, and given my experiences in life, I'm reluctant to unnecessarily put myself in harm's way too," he added. The security issue has been a point of contention in the ongoing rift between Prince Harry and the rest of his family. "I would love reconciliation with my family. There's no point in continuing to fight anymore," he told the BBC last year. "Life is precious. I don't know how much longer my father has," he continued, seemingly referring to the King's cancer diagnosis, which was announced in 2024.
